Yesterday, students participated in a program called Shattered Dreams, in which a car crash was staged on McCoy Road.
To honor the close of National Distracted Driving Awareness month, April 30, 2014 and May 1, 2014 were declared as Shattered Dreams Day at Manvel High School. During these days, two cars were staged as a collision, with drunk driving as the underlying cause. At this scene, emergency personnel (EMS. firefighters, police) came to the crash and walked the upperclassmen through what happens when the worst of distracted driving occurs, and showed the students the consequences of such a crime. A memorial was held this morning, in which students and faculty celebrated the lives of the teens who would have died if the crash were real.
