THE MIRACLE WORKER

The Maverick Players debuted their fall show, “The Miracle Worker”, on Nov. 7 & 8.

The show tells the story of Helen Keller. Rendered blind and deaf by an illness as a baby, she grows into an uncontrollable and pitied child. Desperate for help in communicating with their daughter, the Keller family hires Anne Sullivan to serve as a teacher for their daughter. Despite opposition from Captain Keller and a limited time frame, Anne strives to perform a “miracle” and teach Helen language through hand signals. The production stars  Kaitlin Whiting as Helen Keller, Emily Kralovetz as Anne Sullivan, and Brandon Prince and Mina Hughes as the Kellers.

“The students worked really hard to present this love letter to their teachers and parents,” theater director David Soward said. “It was a wonderful opportunity to begin a dialogue about who has performed miracles in our own lives, and I think it opened our hearts to even the small miracles performed by all those who support the students at Manvel High School.”
