STUCO SUCCESSFUL AT TASC

Student Council will be recognized as an “Outstanding Student Council” by the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) at the state convention this Friday in Arlington.

Additionally, student council has achieved “Sweepstakes,” meaning they are also being recognized for outstanding work in their committees. The committees include DASH: Drug, Alcohol, Safety, & Health, chaired by Rakeb Wogayehu, Pride & Patriotism, co-chaired by Sakari Anderson & Diamond Dickson, Energy & Environment, chaired by Dalton Redman, and Community Service, chaired by Kathie Rios. These committees led a variety of projects, such as the homecoming dance and “We’ve Got Your Back,” a backpack drive that helped provide kids in need with school supplies. The state convention will be attended by 13 students, including current officers and aspiring leaders within the organization.

“I’m really proud of how many projects we were able to accomplish this year,” StuCo sponsor Jennifer Smith said. “Having the student council class really helped with respect to being able to plan [their projects].”
